Initial Consultation

Psychotherapy requires a good match of clinician and patient.  Our initial consultation is your opportunity to meet with me to determine if this is a good match for your particular needs.

Cancellation and Missed Sessions

Appointments not cancelled 48 hours prior to a missed appointment will result in the full fee being charged with the exception of emergencies.  Insurance does not pay for missed sessions.  Patients are responsible fully for this fee.  I check voicemail and emails several times per day.  I will also try to reschedule missed appointments within the same week whenever possible.

Fees

All fees are due at the time of service.  Credit cards, checks, or cash are all acceptable forms of payment.  I charge a customary fee of $160 per individual session (CPT code 90834) and $180 for couples’ therapy. Individual sessions run typically from 45 to 50 minutes, couples’ sessions for 60 minutes.   Fees for psychological evaluations and psychological testing can vary depending on complexity and can be discussed during initial consultation.

There is some availability for sliding scale fees within certain limits and situations.  We can discuss alternative fee arrangements at the initial consultation if cost is a barrier to you.

Insurance Accepted

I currently accept the following insurance:

  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield
  • GEHA
  • Magnacare
  • Tricare

Those who receive services from me that do have insurance with PPO plans will be provided with a bill (sometimes referred to as a ‘superbill’) that can be submitted to your health insurance company. Your health insurance company would then provide reimbursement to you from the insurance company for “out of network” services. If your insurance plan provides for an “out of network” plan and you want to work with me, you may call your health insurance regarding your coverage for mental health costs and procedures (reimbursement rate, number of allowed visits, authorizations, extensions of services, etc).

For guidance on how to obtain helpful information about your mental health coverage from your insurance carrier please see Contact.

For any other insurance coverage, I will help you determine with your insurance carrier whether you have out of network coverage available.  If so, I can provide you with necessary receipts and documentation for you to obtain reimbursement.

You may also use the “Calling Your Insurance Company” form, available on the Contact page, as guidance for contacting your insurance carrier regarding ‘out of network’ coverage.
